Jonathan Osorio, a veteran midfielder, has withdrawn from the Canada camp at the CONCACAF Gold Cup due to a lower-body injury. This unfortunate development means he will be unable to participate in the remainder of the tournament.
The injury occurred during a training session, specifically the day before Canada's match against Curaçao, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Osorio is scheduled to return to Toronto FC for further medical evaluation.
Due to tournament regulations, Osorio cannot be replaced on Canada's roster at this stage. His absence is a significant blow to the team.
As the most experienced player in coach Jesse Marsch's squad, with 85 caps, Osorio had yet to feature in the tournament. He had previously been sidelined with a shoulder injury earlier in the year but had returned to play for Toronto FC.
Canada, currently ranked 30th in the world, will conclude Group B play at the Gold Cup on Tuesday against El Salvador in Houston.

Let’s face it, Canada isn’t ready for the international stage. The injuries just prove that point further! ⚠️

This is just typical for Canada’s squad – always losing key players at crucial moments! 😩

Another tournament wasted because of injuries. Can’t we get some fitness staff that actually knows what they’re doing? 😤

It’s sad to see him out, but I believe in the team’s potential! Let’s go, Canada! 💙💚

Why is Osorio even training if he was already dealing with injuries? Poor management! 🤦♂️
