On Saturday, a significant accident occurred when a party yacht, the "Timeless," collided with a dock in the Hudson River, leading to injuries for many of its passengers. The incident took place around 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of Henry Hudson Parkway and West 125th Street, as the 200-foot boat attempted to dock near Riverside Park and struck a pylon. Following the crash, the Coast Guard assisted in escorting the damaged yacht to a dock where passengers were safely unloaded.
According to the New York City Fire Department, 35 individuals experienced non-life-threatening injuries, with 22 people requiring hospital treatment. Guests on board described a scene of panic, with one passenger, Zytiin King, sharing that there were nearly 400 people celebrating her 69th birthday. She recounted, “Twenty-five years, I've been doing a boat ride. Never had this happen.” Another witness, Monica Hale, mentioned that passengers were thrown off their feet, illustrating the force of the impact as they were advised to brace themselves.
Among those injured was a woman named Leiya, whose mother fell due to the collision and needed medical attention. Despite the traumatic experience, King expressed relief that no fatalities occurred and conveyed her hopes for a swift recovery for the injured. This incident follows a recent maritime mishap involving a Mexican navy training ship that struck the Brooklyn Bridge, resulting in a tragic loss of life and injuries, which highlights the ongoing concerns regarding safety on the waterways.

Hope the boat is repaired properly. Always a good reason to support local businesses.
