During a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Astana, Kazakhstan, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the significant potential for cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan. He encouraged both nations to increase trade and investment, while also expanding collaboration in emerging sectors.
Xi highlighted the remarkable progress in China-Kyrgyzstan relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 33 years ago, stating that the relationship is currently at its strongest point. He referenced a previous meeting with President Japarov in Beijing, where they reached important agreements that have provided a strong boost to their bilateral cooperation.
China is prepared to collaborate with Kyrgyzstan to further align their development strategies and offer unwavering support on matters of mutual core interests and major concerns. The goal is to protect the shared long-term interests of both nations.
President Xi urged both countries to boost trade and investment, strengthen financial cooperation, improve connectivity networks, and accelerate the high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. He also proposed fostering growth in areas like clean energy, green minerals, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, he advocated for increased communication in culture, tourism, education, and health, as well as the implementation of projects that benefit the people.
Recognizing that both China and Kyrgyzstan benefit from economic globalization, Xi called for joint efforts to oppose unilateralism, protect the international economic and trade order, and promote a more just and equitable global governance system.
With both countries set to hold the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and host summits, Xi expressed China's willingness to work with Kyrgyzstan to support each other and advance the SCO's development.

This sounds like another attempt by China to extend its influence in Central Asia, not actual cooperation.

We need to focus on self-sufficiency, not relying on foreign powers like China for our development.
