At the 11th World Radar Expo, currently taking place in Hefei, China Electronics Technology Group Corp, a prominent provider of defense electronics, is introducing several radar systems boasting what it claims are world-class features. The state-owned enterprise is utilizing this event to showcase radar technologies developed by its 38th Research Institute, which is located in Hefei.
Xu Haizhou, a senior expert from the institute, mentioned that they are displaying the JY-27V high-mobility meter-wave air surveillance radar, the JY-11 three-face low-altitude surveillance radar, and a new S-band road-mobile multi-functional radar aimed at potential international customers. Xu asserts that these systems are designed for export and surpass similar offerings available globally.
The JY-27V radar stands out due to several impressive attributes, such as high detection accuracy, extensive range, advanced processors, and swift mobility. Each unit of the JY-27V comprises a radar vehicle and a control cabin, which can be mounted on a vehicle for faster operations. Its large antenna array can be quickly unfolded and repositioned, enhancing its adaptability and survivability in combat scenarios. The radar is capable of tracking multiple targets at once, and once it receives the necessary government export clearance, it is expected to dominate the meter-wave air surveillance radar sector worldwide. Interest from various foreign military parties has already been noted.
The JY-11 radar has successfully been sold to various Middle Eastern nations and has proven effective in real combat situations. Xu highlighted its specialization in detecting and tracking drones, as well as its ability to direct other weapon systems for interception. Notably, it boasts the longest detection range among Chinese anti-drone technologies, with satisfied clients reporting its effectiveness against drones and HIMARS rocket attacks.
Founded in 1965, the 38th Research Institute is recognized as a leading center for radar research and development within the China Electronics Technology Group and is among a select few in the nation capable of designing sophisticated military radar systems. Its products have been adopted by military forces in over 20 nations, with the JYL-1 air surveillance radar recognized as the most widely utilized model. Additionally, the emergence of reports regarding China's J-10C fighter jet's impressive combat effectiveness has also garnered attention internationally, with claims of it successfully downing multiple enemy aircraft without any losses.

Why do we need more radar systems in the world? Isn’t it better to focus on peace rather than promoting military exports?
