On Thursday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China announced that Typhoon Wutip, marking the first typhoon of the year for the nation, is projected to strike the coast of Hainan Province, particularly between Lingshui and Ledong, during the early hours of Friday. Zhang Ling, the chief forecaster at the NMC, indicated that the storm's intensity is classified as a strong tropical storm, with wind speeds between 25 and 28 meters per second.
In an effort to minimize risks, railway services on Hainan Island were suspended starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, although some train operations are anticipated to resume on Saturday. The typhoon is also expected to make a second landfall along the coast ranging from western Guangdong Province to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Saturday, after which it will move northeast while gradually losing intensity, according to Zhang's statements.
The NMC has cautioned that rainfall will be most intense from June 13 to 14, predicting that certain areas in Hainan, as well as eastern Guangxi, Guangdong, southern Hunan, and southern Jiangxi, could experience accumulated rainfall between 100 to 300 millimeters. In some localized regions, rainfall could reach between 400 to 700 millimeters, raising concerns for flooding and related hazards.

Suspended train services? Seriously inconvenient. This is going to be a logistical nightmare.
