Senior Colonel Jiang Bin made his first appearance as the spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense on Thursday, providing insights into the country’s military development and diplomatic initiatives. In a video shared via the ministry’s social media platform, Jiang expressed his pride in taking on this significant role and emphasized his dedication to continuing the work of his predecessors. He committed to timely updates regarding national defense matters, as well as sharing the evolving narrative of the Chinese military in the contemporary era.
Jiang Bin, who was born in 1982 in Sichuan province, holds the position of deputy head in the ministry’s information office as well. His academic journey began at the People’s Liberation Army University of Foreign Languages in 1999, from which he graduated in 2003. Throughout his career, Jiang has served in a variety of roles, including as an assistant translator and staff officer, eventually becoming the director of the translation department within the ministry's Office for International Military Cooperation.
Additionally, the information available on the ministry's website indicates that Jiang is joined by Zhang Xiaogang as an official spokesman, following the departure of Wu Qian from this position. This indicates a change in leadership within the ministry's communications team, aiming to enhance public understanding of the Chinese military's roles and achievements.

The military should be kept under tight scrutiny, not receiving praise. We're not buying this PR campaign.

Proud of what? China's military actions in the South China Sea speak volumes. This speech won’t change that.
