The launch of the China-Central Asia cultural tourism train, from Xi'an to Almaty, signals significant progress in tourism cooperation. This momentum is fueled by visa exemptions, direct flights from Chinese cities, and the Belt and Road Initiative.
To further develop tourism, three key areas require focus. First, signature projects should be created, aligning with regional development strategies. Second, internal development forces need boosting through improved connectivity, streamlined services, and agreed-upon standards. This includes cross-border tourism zones and integrating cultural heritage into tourism routes.
Finally, the visibility of cooperation outcomes must be enhanced. This involves building a strong brand for the "Cultural Silk Road" and promoting the "China-Central Asia Cultural and Tourism Capital" program. A Central Asian tourism promotion plan should also be developed.

Belt and Road Initiative... haven't we heard this before? Always sounds like debt traps waiting to happen.

Cultural Silk Road brand? Is this just rebranding by China and will it erase historical influences?
