Early this morning, Ontario Premier Doug Ford addressed the media, sharing details of an attempted vehicle theft at his residence. He reported that masked individuals had attempted to steal a vehicle from his home during the night.
According to Ford, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. He stated that the police intervened and successfully stopped the perpetrators. The Premier indicated that officers pursued the suspects and made arrests.
Ford's account of the attempted theft was delivered during a press conference. He used the incident to criticize the current bail system. He expressed concern that criminals are acting with impunity, contributing to a perceived breakdown of law and order.
Toronto police have confirmed the arrests and charges related to the incident. Four individuals, including two youths, have been charged with possessing an electronic device for motor vehicle theft and unlawfully purchasing an automobile master key.
