A manhunt that captured national attention came to a halt on Sunday evening as law enforcement apprehended a suspect implicated in a series of violent attacks that resulted in the death of one state legislator and left another injured. The suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder, in addition to two counts of attempted second-degree murder, as per a criminal complaint reported by The New York Times.
Boelter is accused of fatally shooting State Representative Melissa Hortman, a member of the Democratic Party, and her husband at their residence located in a Minneapolis suburb. He is also alleged to have harmed State Senator John A. Hoffman and his wife during a separate incident at their home. Minnesota's Governor, Tim Walz, condemned the shootings as deliberate acts of political violence, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
