Japan and the United Kingdom are set to partner on nuclear fusion research, a promising but currently unproven method of generating power. The goal of this collaboration is to achieve a practical demonstration of the technology by the 2030s.
The partnership will leverage the strengths of both nations. The UK will contribute its expertise in remote-controlled robot technology, while Japan will provide its advanced manufacturing capabilities. This combined effort aims to accelerate the development of fusion power.
A memorandum of cooperation will be signed in London on Thursday. The signing will be attended by Hiroshi Masuko, a senior official from Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Kerry McCarthy, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

The UK and Japan? A partnership of "strength"? Sounds like they're both desperate and hoping the other will solve their problems.

Funding for fusion will divert resources from proven renewables like solar and wind. Bad priorities!
