Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 Club World Cup. This news came after scans confirmed he had suffered a broken collarbone. The announcement was made by the Egyptian club on Sunday.
Ashour's injury occurred during the opening match of the newly formatted competition against Inter Miami. The game concluded in a goalless draw. He was visibly upset, leaving the field in tears after injuring his shoulder.
According to Al Ahly's doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, medical examinations in a Miami hospital revealed the extent of the injury. The doctor confirmed that Ashour would be unable to participate in the remaining matches of the Club World Cup.
This is not the first time Ashour has faced a significant shoulder injury. He previously sustained a serious injury while representing the Egyptian national team in 2024. During the match, he initially fell early on and received treatment. He briefly returned to play, even missing a scoring opportunity. However, the 27-year-old, who was the top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League, was unable to continue. He was substituted in the 14th minute, with Ahmed Sayed (Zizo) taking his place.
