A team of British investigators has teamed up with Indian authorities to look into the devastating Air India plane crash that occurred shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad. As investigations progressed, Indian teams successfully retrieved the second black box from the wreckage, following the earlier discovery of the first black box. Tragically, of the total 242 passengers on board, only one survived.
The incident resulted in a catastrophic fireball and the loss of 241 lives, while the sole survivor, 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh from Leicester, recounted the harrowing experience. He recalled hearing a loud noise approximately thirty seconds after the plane took off before it crashed rapidly to the ground. The passenger list included individuals from various nationalities, namely 169 Indian, 53 British, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese citizens.
Recovery operations continue at the crash site in Gujarat, with officials reporting a death toll of at least 270. For families in India worried about loved ones on the flight, Air India has provided a dedicated helpline, while the British Foreign Office has made assistance available for those outside of India.
