In the opening match of this year's Major League Cricket (MLC) on Thursday, San Francisco Unicorns opener Finn Allen delivered a stunning performance. He broke records with a blistering innings against the defending champions, Washington Freedom.
Allen's explosive batting saw him score 151 runs off just 51 balls. He achieved this feat with an incredible display of power hitting, smashing a record-breaking 19 sixes. This surpassed the previous record for most sixes in a T20 match.
The Unicorns' total of 269-5 set a new MLC team record. Allen reached his century in just 34 balls, facing a bowling attack that included several of his New Zealand teammates. His innings ended when he was caught by Glenn Phillips.
In response, Washington Freedom, captained by Glenn Maxwell, struggled. They were bowled out for 146 in 13.1 overs, resulting in a significant 123-run defeat.
