PLA Conducts South China Sea Patrols, Citing Philippine Actions

On Tuesday, Senior Colonel Tian Junli, spokesperson for the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command, announced that routine patrols were conducted in the South China Sea.

Tian stated that the Philippines has recently engaged in repeated violations of China's maritime rights. Furthermore, the Philippines has been involved in provocative actions and has been collaborating with external forces to conduct what are termed "joint patrols."

The PLA Southern Theater Command's naval and air forces have been closely monitoring the situation and maintaining a high state of alert. The troops are prepared to resolutely defend the country's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. Their mission also includes safeguarding peace and stability within the South China Sea.
