During a recent session of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping highlighted the need for heightened efforts to promote the Peaceful China Initiative. He articulated a vision for creating a safer country, more orderly society, effective governance, and content citizens, building upon the CPC's leadership since the 18th National Congress in 2012.
Xi noted that China's success in achieving rapid economic growth alongside enduring social stability has paved the way for further solidifying the Peaceful China Initiative. He stressed that as the circumstances evolve, efforts to construct a Peaceful China must be enhanced rather than diminished. A comprehensive approach to national security is essential in pushing the initiative to greater heights.
To establish a solid foundation for the nation's stability, Xi urged local party committees and governments to proactively address security challenges. He reaffirmed that the Peaceful China Initiative is deeply rooted in serving the people and called for measures to protect their legitimate rights and promote equity and justice within society. He underscored the significance of preventing and addressing various risks, making national political security a primary focus.
Xi also called attention to the necessity of strengthening crime prevention strategies and ensuring a law-based approach to public grievances. He reiterated the importance of maintaining the CPC Central Committee's leadership in security and legal matters, while advocating for the use of modern technology to enhance social governance. Concurrently, Li Yan, a professor from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, contributed her insights and recommendations for advancing this initiative during the discussion.
