China Reaffirms Commitment to Latin America and Caribbean, Promoting Mutual Development

China is a reliable partner for Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, committed to mutual development and global fairness, according to Zhang Run, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs. He highlighted the success of the recent China-CELAC Forum, where President Xi Jinping announced programs to advance shared development.

China views LAC countries as vital to the Global South and a force for multipolarity. Cooperation benefits both global development and the people involved. China has partnerships with 16 LAC countries, with deep integration of interests. Trade reached $518.4 billion in 2024, with China as the second-largest trading partner.

China and LAC countries stand together on international affairs, upholding the UN system and opposing interference. Zhang addressed attempts to discredit cooperation, stating they will fail. China and LAC countries have sincere mutual support. China pledges unwavering support for LAC development and regional integration, and will always be a reliable partner.
