Trump's Intelligence Director Warns of Nuclear Holocaust, Blames "Elites

A video was posted by President Donald Trump’s intelligence director, warning of global "elites" she claimed were pushing major superpowers towards a "nuclear holocaust." The purpose of the video was unclear, but it seemed aimed at generating fear among her followers regarding a supposed cabal of powerful people.

In the video, Gabbard stated that the world is "closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before," blaming unnamed interests for inciting conflict between superpowers. She suggested that these "political elite warmongers" might be confident in their access to nuclear shelters, unlike regular people. She urged people to speak out and demand an end to this perceived madness.

The video's foreboding theme and Gabbard’s delivery surprised many social media commenters. The context for this message was Gabbard’s recent visit to Hiroshima, and it followed the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as the continued failure to convince Russia to cease its invasion of Ukraine.

Gabbard reflected on the damage caused by the Hiroshima bombing, describing the devastation and loss of life. Her efforts to blame modern-day conflicts on "political elite[s]" is a common tactic for the Trump-aligned far right.

This coalition has combined to form a second-term Trump foreign policy that has pursued talks with Iran, ceased strikes on certain forces, and sought peace in Ukraine. At the same time, Trump is taking a tougher approach to trade with China and showing a willingness to buck the Israeli government.

The hatred of these elites was a driving force behind cuts to foreign aid infrastructure. It is also one of the major forces motivating the Trump administration’s actions against top universities.

Gabbard previously had a record of covering up the use of banned weapons, not warning about their usage. During her 2020 presidential bid, her campaign published materials questioning the narrative blaming forces loyal to the then-ruler of Syria for a chemical attack.
