In the initial three months of 2025, the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) reported that approximately 70.8 million patients had their medical expenses incurred outside their home provinces directly settled at the point of service. This signifies a significant volume of cross-province healthcare utilization and efficient processing.
The first quarter also saw a substantial increase in online registrations for the direct cross-province settlement program. Over 3.6 million registrations were processed through China's unified online-filing channel, reflecting an 18.06 percent year-on-year increase. This highlights the growing adoption and utilization of the online system.
Furthermore, the network of medical institutions participating in the streamlined settlement scheme continues to expand. By the close of the first quarter, the nationwide network comprised 651,600 institutions, demonstrating the ongoing efforts to broaden access to this convenient payment method.
