On Saturday, the Chinese military initiated combat readiness patrols within the territorial waters and airspace surrounding Huangyan Dao and its neighboring areas. This action was confirmed in an official statement released by the authorities.
The Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army reported that since May, they have deployed naval and air forces to consistently increase patrol activities in the waters and airspace near Huangyan Dao's territorial waters. These patrols are intended to enhance the control and management of the maritime and airspace in the region.
The primary objective of these military operations is to firmly protect China's sovereignty and security interests. Furthermore, the patrols are designed to contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability throughout the South China Sea region, according to the Command's statement.

Militarization of this area will only provoke neighboring countries. Must we really go down this path?

It’s important for countries to defend their interests, and I fully support China's efforts.
