Zelenskyy Demands Action After Major Russian Attacks on Ukraine

The Russian assault on Ukraine involved a large-scale deployment of drones and missiles. Early Tuesday morning, numerous drones and missiles were launched at various Ukrainian targets, including Odesa. The capital city, Kyiv, bore the brunt of the attack.

The relentless nighttime raid on Kyiv lasted for several hours and is seen as a continuation of Russia's response to Ukraine's Operation Spiderweb, which targeted Russian nuclear-capable bombers. The strikes followed a previous night's record number of drone launches.

Ukrainian air defenses managed to intercept a portion of the incoming missiles and drones. However, the attacks caused significant damage and casualties.

In a statement, Zelenskyy criticized the lack of response from the US and other nations to the escalating Russian attacks. He emphasized that the ongoing strikes, which included Shahed drones and missiles, were more impactful than international efforts to achieve peace. Zelenskyy called for a stronger response, urging the US and Europe to take decisive action to pressure Russia into peace. He stressed the need for "hard pressure" to end the conflict.

The attacks on Kyiv caused widespread damage, with residential buildings and infrastructure affected. Residents were advised to take shelter and avoid outdoor activities due to the poor air quality caused by the smoke from the strikes.

In Odesa, the attacks resulted in casualties and damage to civilian structures, including a maternity hospital. Ukrainian officials called for tougher sanctions on Russia and increased air defense support. They emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action.
