Experts from the United States and Europe have highlighted China's significant role in advancing ecological civilization, both in terms of its conceptual framework and practical implementation. This was discussed at the International Forum on Ecological Civilization.
The forum, a three-day event held at Pomona College in Claremont, California, brought together over 100 international experts. They engaged in discussions about the principles and practical applications of ecological civilization. The discussions also covered necessary reforms in various sectors, including politics, economics, business, education, and artificial intelligence, to foster the development of ecological civilization.
Many experts acknowledged the deep roots of the concept of ecological civilization in traditional Chinese culture. Andrew Schwartz, an organizer of the forum, emphasized China's leadership in this area. Clifford Cobb, a US scholar, noted that the term itself originated in China, influencing global discourse.
Cobb also observed that China's approach to ecological civilization is driven by a top-down initiative led by the central government. This contrasts with the United States, where a strong national leadership on this issue is lacking.
Beyond its ambitious goals, China's actions have also garnered international attention. Schwartz highlighted China's rapid implementation of green initiatives, infrastructure development, and poverty reduction efforts. David Schwerin, who has visited China numerous times, has witnessed the significant environmental changes. He attributes this progress to the government's and the people's commitment.
Attila Grandpierre, a Hungarian astrophysicist, praised China's success in lifting its population out of extreme poverty. He believes that ecological civilization should prioritize life and that improving living standards contributes to the overall ecological environment.
The experts collectively agreed on the importance of global cooperation in promoting ecological civilization. Schwartz likened the collaborative exchange of ideas at the forum to the creation of music, specifically the improvisational nature of American jazz. The forum was co-organized by several institutions. The International Forum on Ecological Civilization has been held since 2006.

This just seems biased. It glosses over any criticisms and celebrates China's achievements without critical reflection.
