Xizang's Environment Remains Stable, Water Quality Meets Standards

The Xizang autonomous region continues to be a global standout in terms of its ecological health. The region's recently released 2024 Environmental Bulletin, published on Thursday, provides a positive assessment, indicating that the overall ecological and environmental quality has largely remained stable. This stability is a testament to ongoing conservation efforts and the region's unique geographical characteristics.

Shui Yanping, the deputy head of the region's ecology and environment department, highlighted the positive findings regarding water quality. The report confirmed that the water quality in the region's major rivers and lakes met the required standards throughout the past year. These standards are in accordance with national regulations established by the central government, ensuring a high level of environmental protection.

Further details revealed that the key rivers of Xizang, including the Lancang, Yarlung Zangbo, Jinsha, and Nujiang, all met the stringent Class II surface water quality standards. This classification signifies a high level of water purity, suitable for various uses, and underscores the region's commitment to maintaining its pristine water resources. The consistent adherence to these standards reflects a dedication to preserving the delicate balance of the region's ecosystems.
