Emergency services responded to a traffic incident on Queen Louise’s Bridge in Copenhagen after a car struck several pedestrians. The incident occurred near Sortedam Dossering, and initial reports indicated an elderly man lost control of his vehicle.
Eleven individuals sustained injuries as a result of the collision. Danish broadcaster TV2 reported that the conditions of three of the injured are considered critical. The bridge and surrounding areas have been closed off while authorities conduct their investigation. The public has been advised to stay away from the area as emergency personnel remain on site.
A statement from Copenhagen Police, shared on X, confirmed their significant presence at the scene. The statement detailed that an elderly man had lost control of his car and that there were reports of injuries, though the extent of those injuries was still unknown.
The bridge connects the districts of Indre By and Norrebro. According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, a significant number of emergency vehicles, including ambulances and police cars, were present. Witnesses reported seeing a red vehicle with a damaged front end, and an elderly man was reportedly removed from the car and placed on a stretcher. Eyewitness accounts shared with TV2 indicated that the vehicle struck a group of people seated at tables near the Lagkagehuset bakery.
