A significant police incident unfolded in Nice, France, on Wednesday afternoon, April 30th. Reports indicated an armed individual was believed to be inside an apartment within the Pasteur Hospital district. This prompted a large-scale police operation.
As a result of the operation, authorities cordoned off a portion of the neighborhood. The area around Rue Maurice-Maccario was particularly affected, and access to some areas of Pasteur Hospital was restricted.
During the afternoon, a person was apprehended within an apartment, and a weapon was also recovered. The police operation has now concluded, but investigations are underway.
The lockdown caused considerable traffic congestion in eastern Nice, with delays of up to 30 minutes reported in the Pasteur Nice-Est sector. The Police Nationale 06 issued a statement advising the public to avoid the area and refrain from sharing unverified information. They later confirmed that the immediate danger had passed but advised continued caution in the Pasteur district.
