A 25-year-old man, Hiroyuki Taniuchi, has confessed to the murder of a high school girl in Saitama Prefecture, according to police sources. The sources reported that Taniuchi admitted to the crime.
Taniuchi reportedly stated that his personality had been negatively impacted by abuse he suffered and that he felt marginalized in society.
DNA analysis confirmed that bloodstains found on a knife at the crime scene and on Taniuchi's pants matched both his and the victim, 15-year-old Rena Tegara's, DNA.
Initially, Taniuchi remained silent after his arrest. However, he later admitted to killing the high school girl, who was wearing a uniform at the time of the attack.
The sources also indicated that Taniuchi had been observed walking around the area prior to the attack, appearing to be an ordinary passerby while searching for a target.
Police believe the attack was random, as no connection has been established between Taniuchi and the victim, including through examination of their smartphone data.

It’s revolting to think that he walked around like nothing was wrong before taking a life. Lock him up for good!

His past doesn't justify his crime. He needs to accept the reality of his actions without trying to blame others.

I can't fathom how someone can just stalk a victim like that. His actions should result in the harshest penalty possible.

This case highlights the need for a more compassionate approach to those who are suffering. We should not ignore the signs.

Playing the victim card after committing such a heinous act is disgraceful. He deserves no sympathy.
