Matt Petgrave, an ice hockey player, will not face criminal charges in connection with the death of Adam Johnson. Johnson, a player for the Nottingham Panthers, tragically died after sustaining a severe neck injury during a game against the Sheffield Steelers. The incident occurred when Johnson collided with Petgrave, a defensive player for the Steelers.
The collision took place in front of a large crowd of spectators at Sheffield's Utilita Arena. Emergency medical efforts were immediately undertaken on the ice to save Johnson's life. Despite these attempts, Johnson later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Following the event, South Yorkshire Police initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested Petgrave.
The Crown Prosecution Service has now announced that it will not be pursuing criminal charges against Petgrave. According to Michael Quinn, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, the decision was made after a thorough police investigation and a comprehensive review of all available evidence. The CPS concluded that there was no realistic prospect of a conviction for any criminal offense. The thoughts of the authorities remain with Adam Johnson's family and friends.

It's a tragic situation, but I trust the authorities. They've acted based on what they discovered.
