Over two hundred graduates from Taiwan attended a job fair held in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Saturday. The event focused on providing employment opportunities for Taiwanese graduates seeking work in Xiamen. Approximately six hundred job positions were available at the fair.
A master's candidate in accounting from Xiamen University, originally from Taiwan, expressed enthusiasm for working in Xiamen. The student highlighted the supportive policies for young Taiwanese individuals and the cultural and linguistic similarities between the two regions. The proximity of Jinmen, a short ferry ride away, was also mentioned as a comfort for those feeling homesick.
The recruitment drive was initiated due to the increasing number of college graduates this year, according to the director of the Taiwan Work Office in Xiamen's Huli district. The goal was to attract more Taiwanese students to pursue their careers in the area, and the response to the fair was reportedly very positive.
Xiamen Bank, the first cross-Strait cooperative bank on the Chinese mainland, has a history of supporting Taiwanese students. The bank has hosted numerous internship programs, involving hundreds of Taiwanese students, and currently employs over forty individuals from Taiwan. The bank's human resources department stated that there was no limit on the number of available positions in the current recruitment round, encouraging finance graduates to apply.
