Astros Dominate Blue Jays, Sweep Series with 3-1 Wednesday Night Win

The Houston Astros secured a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night, completing a three-game sweep of the series. Christian Walker's home run ignited a three-run second inning for the Astros, setting the stage for their win.

The Astros' offense came alive in the second inning. Walker's solo home run to left field was followed by a triple from Yainer Diaz, who then scored on Zach Dezenzo's RBI single. Yordan Alvarez contributed a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring for Houston.

On the mound, Ryan Gusto delivered a strong performance, pitching into the sixth inning. He allowed only one run on three hits, while striking out six batters. Gusto has maintained a consistent performance, allowing three or fewer runs in each of his starts this season.

The Blue Jays managed to score a run in the fourth inning, with George Springer driving in a run with a double. However, their offense was otherwise stifled. In the ninth inning, despite a walk by Springer and a double by Ernie Clement, Josh Hader closed out the game, striking out Alejandro Kirk and getting Myles Straw to fly out.

The Astros' victory marked their fifth win in their last six games. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, extended their losing streak to five games. This series sweep was the first time the Astros have swept the Blue Jays since 2015.
