Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao offered his respects to Dinesh Miraniya, a victim of the Pahalgam terror attack, upon the arrival of his remains at his residence. He was joined by other state ministers and officials.
A relative of one of the victims, Vinod Agarwal, strongly criticized businessman Robert Vadra's comments regarding the central government's response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Agarwal alleged that the victims were targeted after their identities were revealed. He stated that the attack was not a result of Hindutva and accused the Congress party of political maneuvering.
Earlier, Robert Vadra expressed his condolences for the victims of the terrorist act. He suggested that the government's focus on Hindutva was contributing to a sense of unease among minorities. He questioned the targeting of individuals based on their identity and argued that such actions sent a message to the Prime Minister, implying that Muslims felt weakened.
The Pahalgam terror attack resulted in the deaths of 26 people. In response, India announced measures to send a strong message to Pakistan regarding its support for cross-border terrorism. These measures included suspending the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 and immediately closing the integrated checkpost at Attari. Additionally, Pakistani nationals would be restricted from traveling to India under the SAARC visa Exemption scheme.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was held to address the attack. The CCS condemned the attack and offered condolences to the victims' families, while also highlighting the cross-border connections of the attack.
The families of the victims expressed their grief and urged the government to take decisive action against those responsible for the heinous crime. The attack, which occurred at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, is considered one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike. The incident has caused widespread outrage, with citizens demanding the strictest possible consequences for the perpetrators.

The Cabinet's meeting shows that our leaders are taking this seriously. We need robust security responses.

Why is the government targeting the victims' identities instead of the terrorists? That's the real issue.

It’s easy to offer condolences, but where’s the accountability for those in power?

This response from both sides shows how far removed they are from the lives of ordinary citizens affected by violence.

Condolences must be offered, but we also need actions that hold the actual perpetrators accountable.
