Border Security Force (BSF) troops, in collaboration with the Punjab Police, have made significant recoveries in a crackdown on cross-border narco-trafficking. Officials reported the recovery of four Pakistani drones and substantial amounts of suspected heroin from border areas within the Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts. These operations were conducted on Monday.
The recoveries were the result of a series of search operations. These were based on specific intelligence and routine surveillance efforts.
In the first incident, a joint search by BSF and Punjab Police led to the recovery of a DJI Mavic-3 Classic drone on Sunday evening. The drone was found in a harvested field near the village of Dal in the Tarn Taran district.
Another operation on Monday resulted in the recovery of a DJI Mavic-3 Classic drone and a packet of suspected heroin. This was found during a security operation near the village of Daoke in the Amritsar district. The heroin weighed approximately 572 grams.
Later that afternoon, a DJI Matrice 350 RTK drone and a large packet of suspected heroin were recovered from a harvested field near the village of Burj in Amritsar. The heroin weighed around 3.240 kg.
In a separate operation, BSF troops recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone and a packet of suspected heroin weighing 525 grams. This was found in a harvested field near the village of Naushera Dhalla in the Tarn Taran district.
All recovered drones are believed to have malfunctioned due to technical interference. This was caused by counter-drone measures deployed by the BSF along the India-Pakistan border.
The BSF attributed these successes to reliable intelligence, electronic safeguards, and the dedicated efforts of security personnel. These efforts have effectively disrupted multiple cross-border smuggling attempts. Further investigations are currently underway.
Earlier, BSF troops had also recovered three Pakistani drones and 1.57 kilograms of heroin in multiple operations. One Indian narco-smuggler was also apprehended in connection with these earlier operations.
