National Highways has announced that the closure of the M6 at Junction 34 southbound is being removed. The road is expected to be fully reopened within the next 20-30 minutes.
Following a serious collision on the M6, police are appealing for information. A 14-year-old passenger in a van died after the vehicle left the carriageway and crashed into a tree. Another person was seriously injured. Emergency services were called to the scene between junctions 34 and 33 southbound. Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Motorists have experienced significant delays on the M6, with some expressing frustration over the lack of communication. One driver reported being stuck in traffic for over two hours, highlighting the difficulties faced by a young child due to hunger and heat. Concerns were raised about the accuracy of the information provided regarding the delay.
Ahead of the weekend, the RAC predicted heavy traffic due to an expected surge in leisure trips. This prediction proved accurate, with severe delays reported on the M6 and M25. The RAC anticipated a large number of extra cars on the road on Easter Sunday.
Despite the traffic congestion, no roadworks are being conducted to add to the delays. The Department for Transport has lifted over 1,000 miles of roadworks in England for the Easter weekend. National Highways advises drivers to plan their journeys, check their vehicles, and prepare for all weather conditions.
Drivers are advised to follow the diversion route, which involves exiting the M6 southbound at junction 34 and following the A683, A589, and A6 before rejoining the M6. Delays of up to 45 minutes are reported on the M6 in both directions near Lancaster.

Another accident? Why is the M6 always a death trap? Thoughts are with the victims.

45 min delay? Try 3 hours and counting! The info is completely inaccurate!
