Meghan Markle is facing accusations of repeating a pattern of mistakes, according to a royal expert. This comes amidst a new plagiarism controversy surrounding her proposed children's television show. The Netflix series, titled "Pearl," which was announced in July 2021, is alleged to share significant similarities with a book series by another author.
Meghan Markle was listed as an executive producer for "Pearl," alongside David Furnish, Sir Elton John's husband. The show was ultimately canceled less than a year after its announcement. Mel Elliott, a writer and illustrator, claims potential copyright infringement related to her character, Pearl Power. She sent a legal letter to Netflix shortly after the series was announced, citing the striking similarities between the two works.
Elliott reportedly never received a response and expressed disappointment and confusion. She also sent personal letters to Archewell, seeking updates. Royal author Phil Dampier commented that the situation highlights a lack of research by those working with Meghan before launching projects. He described these as "schoolboy errors," suggesting a failure to conduct proper "due diligence."
Dampier further stated that these incidents create a negative image for Meghan, generating unfavorable headlines as she aims to advance her career and increase her influence. This follows previous accusations of copying, including claims that her cooking program, "With Love Meghan," resembled Pamela Anderson's "Cooking With Love" show. Additionally, Meghan was accused of using a logo for her lifestyle brand that was similar to Majorca's historic coat of arms.

It's almost as if she doesn't learn from her mistakes. Repetitive patterns are never a good look!

It's just accusations. Innocent until proven guilty! Let's not rush to judgment.

I used to be interested, but this is getting old. It's the same pattern, over and over.

I'm sure this is all being blown out of proportion. The Sussexes can't breathe without someone attacking them.

The irony of someone claiming to be a champion of the underdog being accused of stealing someone's work is too much.

Here we go again. Same old story of plagiarism and lack of foresight. So much for breaking the mold!

Where's the accountability? There are no apologies, just more drama.

She has a right to fight for her career and that's all she is doing.

Is this what they mean by 'authentic' creators? Plagiarism is the antithesis of authenticity!

She's a creative person. Similarities are bound to happen, and it doesn't mean she intentionally copied anyone's work.
