Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin has stated he can definitively guarantee that the Trump administration's deregulation efforts will not negatively impact public health or the environment. He emphasized the administration's commitment to both environmental protection and economic growth.
In March, Zeldin revealed the EPA's plans to review regulations across various sectors, including those concerning power plants, mercury and air toxic standards for coal-fired plants, and wastewater regulations for oil and gas development. The administration characterized these 31 deregulatory actions as a significant moment in the EPA's history.
These decisions mark the beginning of a potentially lengthy process to repeal or revise numerous environmental rules, a move that has drawn criticism from climate experts and environmental advocates. Zeldin, previously a member of the House of Representatives, declared that the "green new scam ends" at the time of the announcement, vowing the EPA's role in fostering "the golden age of American success."
During an interview, Zeldin explained that the administration aims to implement "common sense" approaches, arguing that regulations enacted during the Biden administration were overly broad and affected entire industries. He highlighted the economic concerns of the American public, including the high costs of regulatory compliance, which he stated amounted to trillions of dollars and negatively impacted the economy.
Zeldin also mentioned that the deregulatory actions will undergo a process that includes public comment, encouraging Americans to participate and share their perspectives. He emphasized that he does not predetermine the outcomes of these actions.

Trillions of dollars in regulatory compliance? Let's see the numbers. Sounds like a smokescreen for corporate greed.

He says they won't negatively impact health? Famous last words, especially given Trump's track record.

I'm glad they're reviewing the mercury and air toxic standards. We need affordable energy.
