A significant supermarket chain has initiated an urgent recall of a pork belly product due to potential mislabeling of allergens. The affected item is Asda’s Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices, with a use-by date of April 25. The product may contain milk or sulphites, which are not declared on the label.
The Food Standards Agency has issued a statement regarding the recall. The agency highlights that the presence of undeclared milk and sulphites poses a health risk to individuals with allergies or intolerances to milk or its components, as well as those sensitive to sulphur dioxide and sulphites. Furthermore, some packs have been incorrectly labeled as Asda Simple To Cook Tomato & Mozzarella Pork Meatballs.
Sulphite intolerance can be particularly dangerous, potentially leading to life-threatening reactions, especially in individuals with asthma. While most reactions are mild to moderate, severe cases can result in anaphylactic shock, a potentially fatal condition.
The FSA has confirmed that point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all stores selling the product, explaining the reason for the recall and providing instructions for customers. Asda has advised customers who have purchased the affected pork belly slices to return them to their nearest store for a full refund, regardless of whether they have a receipt.
In a separate development, another urgent recall has been issued concerning air fryers. Owners of certain Tower Air Fryer models have been instructed to cease using them immediately due to a potential fire hazard. The seller has identified a manufacturing defect in some batches that could lead to overheating and fire.

This kind of recall is just giving consumers an excuse to avoid certain products. Ridiculous!

It feels like companies are just too quick to recall products to avoid lawsuits instead of investigating properly.

This is such a minor issue! Allergies are serious, but come on, there needs to be a limit to these recalls.

They should've checked their processes instead of jumping to a recall. This isn’t good for their image.

Another overblown recall! How often do these things actually lead to serious issues? People are just too sensitive.
