According to royal expert Hilary Fordwich, the relationship is now even more strained than it was during the King's Coronation in 2023. This further strain is attributed to Prince Harry's ongoing legal battle regarding his security. Fordwich suggests that King Charles is actively avoiding Harry to avoid legal complications and potential drama, influenced by advisors who view Harry negatively. The legal dispute centers on Harry's challenge to the Home Office's decision regarding his security protection in the UK. The Duke is appealing a High Court ruling that upheld the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) to provide him with a different level of taxpayer-funded protection. The Home Office is opposing the appeal, arguing that decisions were made on a "case-by-case" basis. Harry's legal team contends that he has been unfairly treated.
