China and Malaysia have committed to establishing a high-level strategic community with a shared future. This initiative aims to accelerate their respective modernization efforts and collaboratively foster regional and global prosperity and stability. The announcement was made in a joint statement during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Malaysia.
The joint statement outlined several key areas of cooperation. Both nations pledged to enhance strategic coordination, deepen development synergies, and strengthen people-to-people connections. They also committed to maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea, bolstering regional cooperation, and engaging in multilateral cooperation.
Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China policy, recognizing the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China. Malaysia also acknowledged Taiwan as an integral part of the People's Republic of China and stated it would not support any calls for Taiwan's independence.
The two countries agreed to lead regional cooperation in new quality productive forces and further align their development strategies. They will focus on the digital, green, blue, and tourism economies to expand future economic cooperation. The goal is to promote integrated, coordinated, and complementary development, achieving deep integration of industrial and supply chains, value chains, data chains, and talent chains to enhance the quality of their cooperation.
Both nations also agreed to jointly build a secure and stable industrial and supply chain and strengthen cooperation in this area. Malaysia welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of its 5G network. They also plan to explore potential cooperation in the semiconductor industrial chain to maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains.
Furthermore, the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening rail transportation and infrastructure cooperation, contributing to the realization of the Pan-Asian Railway vision. China welcomes Malaysia to continue promoting its products and expanding exports to China through various platforms.
To strengthen people-to-people bonds, the two sides agreed to continue joint research on panda protection and anticipate further progress in this area.
Regarding the South China Sea, the countries agreed to resolve disputes peacefully through friendly consultations and negotiations. They acknowledged that the involvement of parties not directly concerned could be counterproductive.
