China Condemns US Cyberattacks, Issues Wanted Notice for NSA Agents

On Tuesday, the public security bureau in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, issued a wanted notice. This notice offered a bounty for three agents from the US National Security Agency (NSA). The agents are accused of involvement in cyberattacks. These attacks targeted the event information system and key information infrastructure of Heilongjiang Province during the 9th Asian Winter Games.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed the issue in response to a media inquiry. He stated that these cyberattacks have caused significant damage. The damage extended to China's critical information infrastructure, national defense, finance, society, production, and the security of citizens' personal information. The actions were described as highly egregious.

Lin condemned the malicious cyber activities attributed to the US government. He noted that China has communicated its concerns to the US through various channels regarding the cyberattacks on China's critical infrastructure. The spokesperson urged the US to adopt a responsible approach to cybersecurity. He called for the cessation of cyberattacks against China and the end of unwarranted smear campaigns and attacks.

Lin concluded by stating that China will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard its own cybersecurity.
