According to a poll conducted by Jiji Press, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is currently the most favored by eligible voters leading up to the summer election for the House of Councilors, garnering 20.6% support. This figure represents a decrease of 1.4 percentage points from the previous survey in February. The Democratic Party for the People (DPP), registering a support rate of 10.6%, retains its position as the second choice and shows the highest preference among opposition parties.
the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan received 7.8%, while Reiwa Shinsengumi received 5.6%. Additionally, support for Nippon Ishin no Kai was at 4.9%, and Komeito, a junior coalition partner of the LDP, had 4.3%. The Japanese Communist Party received 1.8%, with Sanseito at 1.6%, the Conservative Party of Japan at 0.9%, and the Social Democratic Party at 0.6%.
When breaking down support by age group, the DPP had the highest approval among respondents under 30, who showed a support rate of 21.5%. Meanwhile, both the LDP and DPP received equal support of 14.2% from individuals in their 30s, while the LDP was favored most by voters aged 40 and older. This survey, which took place over four days and reached 2,000 people aged 18 and above across the country, had a valid response rate of 57%.
