The Workers' Party (WP) introduced four more potential candidates for Singapore's upcoming May General Election on Friday, April 18th. The new faces presented to the media at WP headquarters by party leaders Pritam Singh and Sylvia Lim included Dr. Ong Lue Ping, Mr. Jimmy Tan Khim Teck, Ms. Alexis Dang Pei Yuan, and Mr. Andre Low Wu Yang. This announcement followed the release of the opposition party's manifesto and the unveiling of the first group of potential candidates.
Dr. Ong, a 48-year-old senior principal clinical psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health, specializes in treating child and adolescent patients with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as autism spectrum disorder. He previously held senior leadership positions at IMH, including director of allied health from 2022 to 2024. Dr. Ong, a father of three, has been volunteering with the WP since November 2023, contributing to Meet-the-People sessions and community events. He stated his motivation for joining the party was to serve the country.
Mr. Tan, 53, is the co-founder of Immanuel Engineering. He has been involved with the WP, serving as Mr. Singh’s secretarial assistant in 2023 and later as his legislative assistant. In this role, he organized events and assisted with Meet-The-People Sessions. Mr. Tan, a resident of Tampines, has been visiting residents and leading a team of volunteers in the area since 2018.
Ms. Dang, 39, is a senior director of publisher business development at Teads, a media company. She has experience in finance and has transitioned into the technology sector. She has been involved with the WP for five years, volunteering in various capacities, including house visits, Meet-the-People Sessions, and translation work.
Mr. Low, 34, is a member of the WP media team, focusing on strategy, messaging, and digital engagement. He previously served as a secretarial assistant to Sengkang GRC MP Louis Chua for over three years. He has also been involved in the party's outreach activities in Tampines. Mr. Low holds degrees from University College London and Insead.
