Trump Addresses Florida State University Shooting, Stands Firm on Second Amendment

On Thursday, President Trump responded to the tragic shooting incident at Florida State University, where two individuals lost their lives and several others were injured. He described the event as "terrible" and a "shame," but he indicated that he is unlikely to support any new gun control laws, emphasizing his long-standing position as a "big advocate of the Second Amendment."

In addressing media inquiries about potential changes to gun laws in light of the shooting, Trump pointed out that the issue of gun violence has persisted for many years. He remarked that responsibility lies with people rather than the firearms themselves, stating, "the gun doesn't do the shooting, the people do." Trump reiterated his dedication to maintaining the rights afforded by the Second Amendment, which he actively campaigned on.

The incident resulted in two fatalities, and the suspect, a 20-year-old named Phoenix Ikner, was arrested after being shot by the police. Despite the tragedy, Trump’s historical stance has been to oppose new gun control initiatives. Earlier this year, he even signed an executive order aimed at reviewing and potentially rolling back certain regulations from the Biden administration concerning firearms. Although he did impose restrictions on "bump stocks" after the Las Vegas shooting, the Supreme Court later invalidated that rule. As a point of concern, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is currently without a permanent director, with Army Secretary Dan Driscoll serving in an acting capacity.

I stand with Trump. Respect for the Second Amendment is essential to our freedom!

Every time there's a shooting, Trump talks about individual responsibility, but when will he take responsibility for his inaction?

How can he call this tragic when he's still refusing to support gun control? It’s hypocritical.

His response does nothing to honor the victims. It's just words without meaning.

It's time to stop using the Second Amendment as an excuse to avoid crucial discussions on gun control.

The gun doesn’t pull the trigger, but our lax laws allow dangerous people to have access to them!
