China and Egypt Strengthen Military Ties with Joint Air Force Drill

On August 28, 2024, fighter jets from China’s Bayi Aerobatic Team flew over the iconic Giza Pyramids in Egypt, signaling the start of preparations for an air show scheduled for early September. This event is part of a broader initiative by the Chinese Defense Ministry, which recently revealed plans for a joint military exercise between the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Egyptian armed forces, intended to foster deeper cooperation.

The upcoming air force drill, named "Eagles of Civilization 2025," will mark the first collaborative training between the two nations, taking place from mid-April to early May. Furthermore, the recent participation of the PLA Air Force in the Egypt International Air Show, which included the appearance of seven J-10 fighter jets and a Y-20 transport aircraft, illustrates the growing military relationship between the two nations.
