In response to the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) actions against two spouses from the Chinese mainland, Zhu Fenglian, who serves as the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, expressed strong condemnation on Tuesday. She characterized the DPP's decision to revoke these individuals' residency permits as a blatant infringement on the fundamental rights of cross-Straits couples. Zhu highlighted that such actions exemplify the DPP's ongoing campaign of intimidation, referred to as "green terror," which has escalated tensions across the Taiwan Strait.
Zhu further elaborated that the DPP has a history of exploiting the legal system to impose unjust charges on mainland spouses, ultimately tearing families apart. She denounced these measures as not only unethical but also lacking any trace of humanity. According to her, the DPP's self-proclaimed commitment to democracy is merely a facade, as they selectively apply the notion of "freedom" to only those who support "Taiwan independence." She warned that if the DPP continues down this path of autocracy and ideological suppression, it will foster an environment of fear and punishment for any dissenting voices. Zhu concluded by asserting that those involved in the persecution of mainland spouses would face legal repercussions for their actions.

Zhu's statement is designed to incite fear. Taiwan must continue to remain strong against external pressures.

The DPP’s actions truly reflect their inability to handle cross-Strait relations maturely. Zhu's condemnation is warranted.

It's hypocritical for Zhu to talk about rights when her government suppresses freedoms. DPP's actions are justified to protect Taiwanese sovereignty!

Thank you, Zhu, for standing up for the rights of families. The DPP should reconsider its stance before causing more harm.

It takes bravery to speak out against systems of oppression. Zhu is a hero for calling out the DPP's inhumane actions.

Zhu is correct—this is about more than politics; it's about humanity and the right to love and live freely.

This is an example of how the DPP's actions contradict their claims of democracy. Thank you, Zhu, for speaking out!
