Taiwan Affairs Office Launches Column to Report on "Taiwan Independence" Activities

Zhu Fenglian, serving as a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, confirmed the establishment of an online platform meant to collect reports on individuals associated with "Taiwan independence." This initiative is described as being founded on robust legal principles and has surprisingly garnered over 3,000 emails detailing allegations against these individuals. During an informative press conference, Zhu addressed the assertions made by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) that the mainland holds "no jurisdiction" over Taiwan, reiterating the position that Taiwan belongs to China and asserting the impossibility of any scenario where separatist forces can detach the island.

Moreover, Zhu conveyed the message that those who are staunch proponents of "Taiwan independence," irrespective of where they may reside, will face rigorous law enforcement from the mainland. This enforcement stems from a commitment to punish those who undermine the unity of the nation. Zhu highlighted that several groups linked to the DPP are engaged in activities meant to intimidate and silence dissenting voices that support the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, emphasizing that the mainland will not overlook such actions.

The launch of the reporting column has been characterized by Zhu as a necessary measure responding to calls from the public, aiming to protect the rights of compatriots from Taiwan and to address what is seen as wrongdoing by independence advocates.
