Xi Jinping, as the chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), has officially signed an order to implement updated guidelines regarding the enforcement of the drug administration law within the Chinese military. This initiative has been jointly published by China's State Council and the CMC, and a decree from Premier Li Qiang has also been issued to accompany the document.
The revised guidelines are scheduled to be enforced starting June 1 and focus on improving the management of medications used by military personnel. The intentions behind these changes include enhancing military drug reserves management, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of pharmaceuticals, promoting proper usage of medicines, and refining the oversight of medications specifically needed by the armed forces.
Additionally, the guidelines introduce stronger supervisory measures to guarantee the safety of drugs in a military context. A more rigorous quality sampling and inspection system will be put in place for military medications, introducing new regulations aimed at managing potential drug safety risks and improving mechanisms to prevent and address illegal practices related to pharmaceuticals in the military.
