The 2025 Wuzhou Half Marathon commenced on Sunday in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The event drew a crowd of 20,000 participants from various nations, including China, Singapore, South Africa, Japan, and Kenya.
Themed "A Millennium-old City, Brilliant Wuzhou," the marathon featured three race categories. These included the half marathon, a 10-kilometer run, and a fun run.
In the half marathon, Leta Girma from Ethiopia secured the men's title, while Tadesse Betselot Andualem, also from Ethiopia, won the women's title. Chinese mainland runners Li Xiaohong and He Fang took first place in the men's and women's 10-kilometer runs, respectively.
The race course primarily traversed an urban route. It began at the Wuzhou city library and extended to the municipal square. The course showcased prominent city landmarks, including the Longyu roundabout and Yuanjiang bridge.
The event was certified by the Chinese Athletics Association. It was co-organized by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and the Wuzhou municipal government.

Brilliant Wuzhou"? Sounds like marketing fluff. Is the event actually well-organized?

Co-organized by the government? That's just a political power grab disguised as a race.

Hope they had enough water stations. Marathon organizers are terrible at handling hydration.
