The Social Security Administration (SSA) has become the latest government agency to participate in President Donald Trump's deportation efforts. This action reflects the administration's comprehensive approach to fulfilling a key campaign promise.
According to Tom Jones, the executive director of the American Accountability Foundation, the Trump administration is utilizing all available resources to address illegal immigration. This move involves the SSA reviewing the status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who entered the country under "temporary parole" granted during the Biden administration. These individuals were permitted to obtain Social Security numbers for employment purposes.
Reports indicate that Trump administration officials allege over 6,300 of these individuals are on the FBI terrorist watch list or have criminal records. The SSA has begun transferring the names of those on the watch list to its "Death Master File" and subsequently to the "Ineligible Master File."
This utilization of the SSA follows other actions taken by Trump to advance his deportation agenda. These include deploying military forces to secure the border and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cross-checking information for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). However, not all have supported this aggressive approach. The IRS and ICE partnership led to the resignation of IRS Acting Commissioner Melanie Krause.
Concerns have been raised within the SSA regarding the data-sharing agreement. Some agency staff have reviewed the names and Social Security numbers of some immigrants against data used to search for criminal history, finding no evidence of crimes or law enforcement interactions. Jones believes these instances highlight the need for changes in the federal workforce.
Jones anticipates Trump will continue to use all available resources to achieve his immigration goals. He suggests that agencies like OSHA, which has staff on job sites, may also be used to target illegal alien workers and the businesses that employ them.

This ensures that taxpayers aren’t subsidizing individuals who may pose a risk to our communities.

This is a blatant attack on hard-working immigrants who contribute to our economy. The SSA should not be involved in deportations!

Ensuring that those in the country illegally do not have access to social security benefits is a responsible move.

The SSA has better things to do than facilitate deportations. This is a waste of taxpayer money!
