A 24-year-old man from Lilburn, Georgia, named Aliakbar Mohammad Amin, has been charged with a federal crime. The Justice Department announced that Amin allegedly threatened to kill Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her husband.
The charges stem from threatening text messages Amin allegedly sent between March 29 and April 1. He is accused of transmitting interstate threats. One text reportedly stated, "Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn." Another message warned that Gabbard's home was a "legitimate target."
According to federal prosecutors, Amin also sent a text to Gabbard's husband, Abraham Williams. The message advised Williams to tell his wife to obey orders from Vladimir Putin. The text included Russian flag and bear emojis.
Following Amin's arrest, authorities discovered additional threatening messages linked to his social media accounts. These included images depicting a gun pointed at photographs of Gabbard and her husband. A firearm was also recovered from Amin's home.
The FBI's special agent in charge in Atlanta, Paul Brown, issued a warning, stating that those engaging in such criminal behavior will be apprehended and imprisoned.
The announcement of Amin's arrest came shortly after the arrest of a man who allegedly broke into Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's home and set multiple fires. The incident drew bipartisan condemnation.

Glad to hear that the FBI did their job and apprehended the suspect. Threats against public officers should be taking seriously.

Text messages and social media threats? This is proof of how easy it is to engage in hateful behavior online with real-world implications.
