China's Defense Ministry Responds to Australia's Accusations of Lack of Transparency

Wu Qian, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, addressed Australia's accusations regarding China's transparency amid the recent activities of three Chinese warships and their live-fire drills near Australian waters. He clarified that the claims made by Australia do not align with the actual facts, pointing out that the training exercises conducted by the Chinese naval formation are held well outside of Australia's coast and within international waters.

Furthermore, he mentioned that during this time, China engaged in live-fire training aimed at sea targets, consistently providing safety notices beforehand to ensure that aviation safety was not compromised. Wu asserted that China's military actions are fully aligned with international laws and practices, expressing astonishment and strong dissatisfaction at Australia's unreasonable accusations and heightened rhetoric surrounding the situation. He encouraged Australia to approach the relationship between the two nations and their militaries with a more rational and sincere attitude, emphasizing the need for constructive actions to foster stability and development in their bilateral relations.

Australia needs to understand that China's military is growing and conducting the same exercises as many other nations. The world is seeing this.

China's transparency on this issue is actually quite commendable, having followed procedure by issuing hazard notices for aviation safety.

The fact China gave safety notices, as well as provided distance data, shows a level of transparency. This is a professional way to run military operations.

Safety notices don't erase the fact that they're carrying out aggressive training exercises. The fact that they did is concerning, not reassuring.

Classic CCP PR tactics—criticize your critics, deny wrongdoing despite evidence to the contrary.

China's military buildup in the South China Sea and now near Australia is a consistent pattern of expansionism. This statement rings hollow.
