On Thursday, two American Airlines passenger planes made contact on a taxiway at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
The wingtip of American Airlines Flight 5490 collided with American Airlines Flight 4522. The event occurred on a taxiway at the airport around 12:45 p.m. local time.
Flight 5490, a Bombardier CRJ900, was scheduled to fly to Charleston International Airport in South Carolina. Flight 4522, an Embraer E175, was destined for JFK International Airport in New York.
Several passengers, including members of Congress, shared their experiences. One representative noted that while waiting for takeoff, another plane struck their wing. Another reported a similar incident, stating that their plane was bumped by another while stationary on the runway.
The FAA has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

What a joke! If they can't manage taxiways, what makes anyone think they can manage flights?

Thank goodness for quick responses at the airport! Aircraft collisions on the ground are scary but thankfully not catastrophic.

Passengers shouldn't have to deal with taxiway collisions. Stronger regulations are needed to prevent this from happening.

Learn from this incident, or one day it will be much worse. The FAA can't just brush this under the rug.
