During a recent visit to the Philippines, the US Secretary of Defense reaffirmed the commitment to the US-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty, highlighting the need to address what he referred to as the "China threat." This visit also included joint military patrols involving the US, Philippines, and Japan in the contested South China Sea, coinciding with the US's approval of a sale of F-16 fighter jets to the Philippines.
In response to these developments, Chinese spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang accused the US of using treaties as a guise to interfere in the South China Sea, claiming such actions threaten China's territorial integrity and maritime rights. He asserted that this approach is futile, as it only serves to expose the true intention of outside nations, particularly the US, to create instability in the region through escalation and armed support. Additionally, he cautioned the Philippines against depending on foreign assistance, suggesting such reliance would ultimately harm their interests, and called for a return to diplomatic dialogue and negotiation.

The Philippines shouldn't align with an empire trying to assert its dominance in the region. Choose wisely!

Diplomacy is great, but having military strength is equally important. The F-16s are a necessary security measure!

How can the Philippines trust foreign powers when they're only looking out for their own interests? Approach with caution!
